Ordering Prescription Eyeglasses with GlassesShop

I've been a glasses wearer for most of my life - 14 years to be exact. I've stayed loyal to my local opticians and have only ever purchased my eyeglasses through them. I felt that they know me and my prescription and I was happy to do that.

GlassesShop.com offer eyeglasses online as well as prescription sunglasses. I have to admit that I was a little dubious about the whole thing as I wasn't sure that it would be as easy as it is to order through my optician or the glasses wouldn't be as good.

There are tons of glasses frames to choose from and I actually found it quite hard to settle on a style because I loved so many of them. In the end, I opted for GrandPrarie Wayfarer in black. I do love a thick black frame, it's my signature style. The shape was a little different from what I am used to but I hoped they'd suit me - I did worry about not being able to try the style on before purchasing but I was hopeful.

In order to have the glasses tailored to me, I just had to input my Rx (OD & OS prescription) and my PD (pupillary distance). I had my prescription at home and working out my PD was easy enough using online tutorials. After ordering, my glasses arrived quite quickly.

They were packaged well, in a hard case, and came with a cleaning cloth. As soon as I tried them on, I could tell that the prescription was perfect for me and my partner Chris actually told me that he liked them better than the ones I'd been previously wearing.

Every time I get new glasses, it does take me a while to get used to the shape of them and how they look on my face. This time was no different. The more I wore them, I got used to them and I'm loving having a extra pair so I can switch them up whenever I want. It's also handy having another pair as I have two young children who can be very 'rough and tumble' when it comes to playing!

I have definitely been converted now that I can see just how easy it is to buy prescription glasses over the Internet. The prices are great too and as I've never had a pair of prescription sunglasses, I'll definitely be treating myself to a pair for the summer!

Specsavers Minions Range

We (and by 'we' I mean C) were recently invited along to Specsavers to take a peek at their new Minions range. When the email first landed in my inbox, I honestly thought it couldn't be more perfect for C. I wear glasses and he is absolutely obsessed with them. He has lots of toy glasses which he loves wearing himself or making his toys wear. Minions is another one of his loves - like most children! He also hadn't had an eye test in quite a while.

I booked C in for his appointment at the Ann Street branch in Belfast and as we had never been to Specsavers, they had some initial tests to do. I imagined that this would be easy enough, and it probably is, but C decided that he did not want to co-operate at all. He kept saying, "bye bye" and "I don't like it!" In the end we decided just to let the optometrist know that he wasn't comfortable with it.

When we went upstairs to the optometrists room, we attempted some more tests. He was absolutely fine when it came to telling us what the symbols were but trying to cover one eye while checking the other or getting him to wear the frames to test lenses was terrible! So much so that what happened next is probably the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to me. C pointed at the optometrist, pointed at the door and told her, "Get out!" I wanted the ground to open up and swallow me. I couldn't apologise enough but I have to commend the optometrist on how professional she was. She laughed it off and said that they have plenty of young children in who are uncooperative and I had nothing to worry about.

Due to C's tantrums, she couldn't give me a proper result of his test. The only thing that she could tell me sure was that he didn't have a squint. Obviously, we didn't get to try a pair of Minions glasses but I was able to sneak a peek at the range whilst I was in store.

The Minions range have glasses for both girls and boy in a variety of shapes and colours - I especially loved the little pink ones! The arms all have little images of our favourite characters on and I think that if C did need glasses, the fact that they have Minions on them would make him very excited to wear them.

Let's keep our fingers crossed that our eye test goes a bit more smoothly next time!

Ozeri Moderna Artisan Glasses

Ozeri is a specialty manufacturer of digital lifestyle products for the modern home. I have written about Ozeri before when I reviewed their Turtlemeter. 

This time round I was sent a pack of their Modern Artisan Glasses. These glasses are in packs of four and each glasses holds 8oz. They are made from heat and shatter resistant borosilicate glass.

I had to try out the claim they there were heat resistant and no, it's not a lie! We decided to swap our usual mugs that we use for hot chocolate and try out these glasses instead. Straight away, we were able to hold the glasses without getting burned. As well as the heat resistance, there appears to be no condensation with cold drinks so there is no risk of the glass sliding out of your hand. I was really shocked at this as I've never come across anything like it before.

These glasses are thicker and therefore more durable than regular glasses and they have four thumb-sized dimples around them making for an easy and effortless grip.

I love the double wall design. Your beverage is encased in the inner part of the glass giving a fabulous optical effect.
