I have always been a massive fan of all things Funko. I collect the Funko Pop! Vinyl figures so I was really excited to be sent a couple of new toys in their range; Marvel Battleworld: Mystery of the Thanostones and Something Wild!

C was especially delighted to see Marvel Battleworld: Mystery of the Thanostones as he has been a Marvel fan since he was a toddler - something that has only grown as he has gotten older.

Funko has combined collectible Marvel figures with a fun tabletop game to bring us Marvel Battleworld. These are a type of blind bag and once you've opened battle ball, you'll find:

  • 1 Hero
  • 1 Hero card
  • 1 Thanostone containing 1 Mystery Hero
  • 1 Mystery Hero card
  • 5 Battle cards
  • 1 Attack Die
  • 5 Danger Tokens
  • 1 Danger Coin
  • Instructions

Caleb was so excited to see Goose (Vers' pet cat from Captain Marvel) inside our battle ball. There are 30 to collect with 60 battles to take part in. These figures can either be Common, Rare or Ultra Rare which adds to the excitement. Although you can battle alone, I think the game would work best if you are playing against a friend who also has a battle ball.

The objective is to win enough battles (3 battles for one Battle Ball) to win the game. If you lose 3 battles, your heroes are defeated. It took us a watch of the How to Play video and a few reads of the instruction leaflet to really understand how to play but once you've got it, it's simple.

When we eventually got to crush our Thanostone, E was delighted to find Captain Marvel (although maybe we should have seen that coming considering we got Goose!)

More Battle Balls means building the best superhero team to battle either alone or with your friends. We will definitely be getting some more of these for Christmas!

You can purchase the Funko Marvel Battle Ball from £6.99 or the Mega Pack for £17.99. All of which are available from Tesco, Smyths Toys Superstores and Asda.

Funko have also released a series of collectible card games called Something Wild! Aimed at age 6+ it is perfect for family game night and they contain a mini Funko Pop! Vinyl figure, really sticking to the look of the brand.

Something Wild! comes in six different themes; Aladdin with a Genie figure, Villains with a Maleficent figure, The Nightmare Before Christmas with a Jack Skellington figure, The Little Mermaid with an Ariel figure, Toy Story with a Woody figure and Mickey and Friends with a Mickey Mouse figure. We love Toy Story so were pleased to get that themes, although I'd probably love any of them to be honest! We are such big Disney fans.

Something Wild! is a simple, quick card game for 2-4 players and it only lasts roughly 15 minutes so perfect for younger players who are only being introduced to card games.

Inside the box, you get:
  • 45 Character cards (numbered 1-9 in five different colours)
  • 10 Power cards
  • 1 Pop! figure
  • Instructions

The goal of this game is to be the first player to score three Powers by creating a "set" (three cards of any colour with the same number) or a "run" (three cards of the same colour with numbers in order).

Each player gets three character cards to begin with, whilst the stack of Power cards is left on the table with the top card turned face up. The youngest player starts first and plays one of their cards onto the table. If you play a card which is the same colour as the Power card, you get to take the Pop! figure. If you have the Pop! figure in your possession you can use the active Power card on your turn.

The game keeps playing with each player putting a card forward until someone makes a set or a run. Once the first player has made either of those, you take the Power card. First to three wins! You can only ever have five cards placed in front of you so if you haven't made a set or run, they will have to be discarded before you can continue. Some cards will also have an additional rule that can be used when that card is played.

It is a really fun game for all the family!

You can find the Something Wild! ranges at GAME and all good retailers for £7.99.

You can follow all things Funko on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.

UniVerse | Slimy Unicorn Collectibles - Review

[AD/Gifted products - We received these toys free of charge for the purpose of this review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. This post contains affiliate links. If you click through to buy anything through a link on this page, I will earn a few pennies at no extra cost to you.]

My daughter E is like any typical five year old girl - unicorn obsessed! Add slime into the mix and you've got the perfect toy.

UniVerse are emoji-themed clouds that need to be submerged in water to reveal a surprise inside.

We filled our bowl with slightly warm water and E set to work dunking a UniVerse cloud inside. After a few seconds, the cloud disintegrates and the water turns into slime! As a parent, I am not a fan of slime at all but E loves it. She wasn't too fussed of the texture and smell of this one though, I think it does depend on how much water you use and what temperature it is - maybe we used too little!

The slime/water turns a different colour, for each cloud this gives you a clue as to which world the UniVerse unicorn is from; orange for Sweet Treats Landing, yellow for Pet Party Peak, Red for Nummy Bay, Pink for Glam-a-Ganza Land, purple for Superstar City, blue for Funtasyland and green for Mist-terious Land.

You will then find four blind bags ready to be opened. Inside, you'll discover your unicorn, some accessories, a best friend for your unicorn and a card with more information about your new unicorn such as what their favourite food is, their likes and dislikes and how uni-que or rare they are. These work like scratchcards and it is recommended to use your unicorns horn to scratch them off but we found the hoof worked better.

There is a collector's sheet that comes with each cloud so you can tick off who you get and you will also find a key that tells you if they are special in any way. We managed to get a good variety in our UniVerse clouds with unicorns from a few different lands as well as a translucent one and a glow in the dark one! My personal favourite was definitely my namesake - Bun Appetit Becca!

As much as I disliked the mess, E absolutely loved the idea of UniVerse as they are a little bit different. The unicorn characters are great as they have their own little personalities and can be used in lots of different types of play.

UniVerse from Spinmaster retail at around £9.99 each but are available from Smyths at £4.99 at the time of publication.

Hatchimals CollEGGtibles Royal Snowball Jewellery Box Dozen - Review

(AD/Gifted - We received this item for the purpose of this post. All thoughts and opinions are my own.)

One of E's favourite toys over the past couple of years have been Hatchimals CollEGGtibles. We love how they always add something new and she finds it so exciting trying to collect all the characters from the series.

It is Hatchimals Week of WOW over social media this week and each day, the Spinmaster Twitter account will be giving away that day's featured Hatchimals toy and you can read reviews of the toy from a selection of bloggers. There will also be a Twitter party on the Spinmaster account on Saturday 9th November at 6pm where you will have the chance to win more prizes and discuss the range.

I knew the Hatchimals CollEGGtibles Royal Snowball Jewellery Box Dozen would be a huge hit with E as she loves all things fancy and wintery which, judging by the name, I thought these would be.

The 12 pack comes in a egg box style and upon opening you'll find two Hatchimals characters that aren't in eggs and 10 that still need to be "hatched". The eggs themselves in this set are beautiful and glittery and we love the colours. E instantly exclaimed "Ooh, the dark blue is very royal!"

If you have never had Hatchimals CollEGGtibles before, in order to hatch the animals out, you simply rub the purple heart motif on the front of the egg. It will start to turn pink from the heat and then begin to crack. You can then break it apart and see who's inside.

You get a collector's sheet and before you've even opened any eggs, you can see that there are loads to collect. They are split into types and the egg colour refers to whether they are common, royal rare, ultra rare or limited edition so you have some sort of an idea about who will be inside.

E was super lucky and got one limited edition (Salon Foxfin from the "Glitter Salon" in the Royal Hatch range) and two royal rare ones (Royal Koalabee and Royal Pandor from the "Polar Royals" in the Royal Snowball range). We also only got one dupe which E has declared must mean that they are twins.

The concept of Hatchimals CollEGGtibles are so much fun. It is similar to the surprise of a blind bag but makes it a little more fun. The plastic egg box can then be saved to store your animals in so that they don't get lost. One thing that is different about Royal Snowball from the Hatchimals CollEGGtibles that we've owned before is that not only do you get an animal in the eggs, but most will come with accessories too. Some of ours had scarves, hats, crowns and even a little snowman - adorable!

We can't wait to collect the rest!

Foodie Roos - Review

[AD/Gifted - We received these items for the purpose of this review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. This post also contains affliate links, meaning that I will earn a few pennies if you purchase through my link.]

The amount of collectible toys that C and E have between them must be in the hundreds. They love trying to collect the entire range of whatever toy it is and it's very exciting when you get a full set.

Foodie Roos from John Adams have gone one further and created mini collectible plush toys! The kids really love plush toys and have an abundance in their beds that they couldn't bare to part with - even the scruffy ones they've had since birth!

One day in Yummyville, these animals were enjoying their favourite foods and ate a bit too much. They then turned into their favourite food and became a Foodie Roo!

Each Foodie Roo comes in a little pot and on the front you'll see a peekaboo rectangle as a sneak peek into who will be inside. You'll also see either Popcorn, Gummies, Chips, Cookies, Fruit Cup, Soda, Pretzel, Juice or Cereal. Each of these categories have two different Foodie Roos to collect plus you could be lucky enough to find one of two rare treats, so there are 20 available in Series 1.

E couldn't wait to get opening and see who was inside each pot. We started off with our Gummies one and found Bouncy Bear inside. You also get a sheet of stickers, a collector's guide, two connectors and an instruction manual. The instruction manual shows how to turn the pot into a little room for your Foodie Roo. The stickers can then be used to decorate it. I really like this concept as it means there is minimal single use plastic and you have an instant playset.

The smell of the Foodie Roos are really quite strong but E absolutely loved this about this. We opened a few others afterwards; Citrustripes from the Soda collection, Berry Hop from Fruit Cup, Whale-Ale from Juice and Pretzquirrel from Pretzel. Each of them are very different, not only by smell but texture and weight too. We instantly felt as though Citrustripes and Whale-Ale were very heavy in comparison to the others, obviously as a drink would be heavy in a glass or cup. You can also hear the sloosh if you shake them. If you give them a squeeze, the textures are reminiscent of their food.

We have some very exciting news. When we opened the last pot, we were greeted with a foil sheet over the top that said "Winner winner! Rare treat inside!" E actually squealed at the top of her lungs and ran to tell her daddy that she'd got a rare one. It was adorable. There are two rare Foodie Roos to find; Raccoon Macaron and Sugarphant, we got Sugarphant and E was very adamant that it smells like frosting.

Now, all of the Foodie Roos currently live in E's bed as she can "smell them whenever she wants when she's going to sleep".

The Foodie Roos from John Adams are priced at £7.99 each and are available from Smyths and all good toy retailers. I know E will definitely be wanting some more of these and I think they'd be great for stocking fillers or a little gift for all those schoolfriends' birthday parties!
