ProVen Probiotics

If you read my 25 Week Midwife Appointment post, you'll see that I wrote about the midwife asking me if I was taking vitamin D supplements. This is where ProVen Probiotics come in.

They very kindly sent me a 28 day supply of their Pregnancy Probiotic Plus to try out.

These multivitamins contain 20 essential vitamins and trace minerals such as Vitamins D, K, C, B1, B2, B3, B6, B12, folic acid, biotin, pantothenic acid, calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc, copper, manganese, selenium, chromium, molybdenum & iodine. They also provide 200mg of the omega-3 fatty acid DHA which makes up around 11% of the weight of the human brain.

I do worry about how my diet is affecting the development of my unborn baby so these multivitamins sort of give me a peace of mind. I know that I'm providing the vitamins and minerals that my diet maybe isn't providing enough of at the minute. The tablets are rather big which scared me at the beginning as I'm such a wimp when it comes to tablets but I've gotten used to them now!

The Pregnancy ProbioticPlus vitamins retail at £19.95 and are unfortunately not suitable for vegetarians or vegans.

In addition to the pregnancy vitamins, I also received some Baby Probiotics one for Formula Fed babies and one for Breast Fed babies. Obviously, my baby isn't here yet so I cannot give a proper review of them but I'd like to share a little information on what they do.

The probiotics come in powder form and can just be added into formula or expressed breast milk. They both contain Lab4b which is a group of four types of friendly bacteria that helps develop a healthy immune system and intestinal function. The probiotic for formula fed babies also contains a type of fibre called GOS which is found in high concentrations of breast milk and it helps friendly bacteria grow in the intestine of the baby.

The probiotic for formula fed babies retails at £13.95 and the probiotic for breast fed babies retails at £12.95. Both are suitable for vegetarians.

(Disclaimer: I received these items free of charge in exchange for an open and honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.)
