Valentine's Day Gift Ideas: The Art of Couples Conversation

At a time where technology tends to dominate everyday life, I think that it's so important to still be able to sit and have a conversation. In the evenings when the children are in bed, Chris plays Grand Theft Auto on the Playstation, I will be on my laptop blogging and we will be watching something on Netflix through Chris's laptop.

The Art of Couples Conversation is a fab little game to get couples talking. It is packed with thought-provoking questions ranging from light-hearted to deep and meaningful. The cards provide conversation stimulus for couples of all ages who are too busy to take the time to communicate about anything other than family chores. It is perfect for providing fun as well as encouraging couples to think, reminisce, laugh together and rediscover how much they enjoy each others company. It has also been professionally accepted as a resource for use in therapy and education.

Chris and I gave the game a try and I was surprised at how hard I had to think about some of the answers! Ones that seem simple too, like "When and why did you last say thank you to your partner?" I felt so guilty that I couldn't remember!

The premise of the game is easy. The cards are placed face down and partner 1 asks partner 2 the first question on the card that they have picked. Once the question has been answered, Partner 1 is free to ask their own extension question(s) to encourage elaboration. Next, it's Partner 2's turn, and so on. Each card contains three questions. The first question is light and easy, the second question may require a little more thought and the third question is deeper and may be more challenging.

I loved how much closer I felt to Chris when playing. Even though we've been together for 5 years, I truly feel like I have gotten to know him more and explore his mind.

The Art of Couples Conversation retails at £9.98 and you can purchase it at all good bookshops and online retailers.
